it doesnt really matter if you're bisaya or tagalog, if you have a good education, you should be able to speak good english. "good" is very subjective though. if native speakers of english such as american or british english can clearly understand what you're saying, then definitely you can speak good english but if they're having a hard time understanding it due to taglish, bislish or ceblish accents then that's poor education. our schools must teach esl/phonetics from pre-k to graduate schools. a lot of our teachers can't even speak or pronounce the english words correctly so what do you expect of our students and graduates?
ReplyDeleteto tell you honestly, most filipinos including bisaya speak "carabao" english. so stop bragging. let the native speakers of english be the judge. if they accept the way we speak english, then thats good, but to justify your statement, it has to be the majority not only a select few like the top or honor students.
What are you so mad about, Joey? let me a wild guess for you to react this way. There's 99% chance that you are one of the people from metro Manila who mock cebuanos and reading this is such a pain for you.
ReplyDeleteI speak for those millions of "bisaya" and "cebuanos" who get discriminated by Tagalog or so-called Manilenyos of incompetence and of "second grade" just because of the "bisaya"or "cebuano" accent. If you are unaware, or if you are guilty of that in a way, I encourage you to pack your things and travel around so you will be enlightened.
It might be best for you to visit Singapore and feel how being treated differently just because your are Filipino feels...and then you might understand.
It's ignorance which breaks this country apart...look at what you are doing. Some people like the one writing this blog tries to promote this city...and you are pulling it down.
